Student health care
When you start a vocational qualification or preparatory education,
you are entitled to student welfare services.
During your first year of study, you can book an appointment for a health meeting through Siun sote’s electronic appointment system. The health meeting will cover topics related to your well-being, health habits, and the health risks associated with your field of study.
Before the health meeting, you can fill out the electronic pre-information form on the Digital Services – siunsote.fi website. You can find the Student Health Services pre-information form by clicking on the forms heading in the browser version. If you have downloaded the mobile application, the forms section can be found by clicking on your profile.
As a student in the social and health care field, you can fill out the ‘Infectious Disease Survey for Riveria’s Social and Health Care Students’ form electronically before the health meeting.
If you are an apprenticeship student, please note that you are not covered by student health services, but by occupational health services.
Nurse Services
The goal of student health services is to maintain and promote student well-being. You can turn to the nurse if you have concerns or questions related to:
- your health or well-being career
- choice or occupational health
- sexual health, sexually transmitted diseases, or starting contraception
- vaccinations or travel
- lifestyle habits, e.g., weight management, sleep problems
- coping and mental health challenges
- substance abuse or other addictions
If you have symptoms of an infection, do not come to the appointment; instead, your health condition will be assessed by phone if necessary. If the nurse is not available, contact your own health center.
You can only visit the nurse by appointment. You can book an appointment
through Siun sote’s electronic appointment system.
Important reminder about the customer fee law: A penalty fee (€56.70) will be charged for missed appointments for those aged 18 and over. Therefore, make sure to attend your scheduled appointment or cancel it if you are unable to attend.
Accidents and first aid: If an accident occurs at the educational institution, first aid is provided on-site. In the event of blood accidents, follow the instructions provided by the institution.
Preliminary health examinations for the Defense Forces: These are conducted in the year you turn 18. The Defense Forces will send additional information about conscription and call-up examinations by mail, along with detailed instructions.
Student instructions for pre-work placement tuberculosis screening
Student’s task after starting the work placement:
Show the signed self-assessment form/student health service’s written certificate to the workplace supervisor on your first day.
The workplace supervisor checks the form
You can ask the supervisor to return the form to you. Inform them that the certificate is valid for the entire duration of your studies. If you get the certificate back, store it carefully for your next work placement. You might need the certificate for future work placements.
The supervisor keeps the certificate. Workplaces may have different regulations regarding the inspection and storage of the form. In some cases, the supervisor may keep and archive the form according to the workplace rules.
In such cases, the self-assessment form/certificate must be completed again before starting a work placement in a new unit.
