Luova labra (Creative Lab) in Peltola
At the Peltola campus in Joensuu, there is a workshop for handicrafts and other creative activities called Luova labra (Creative Lab). Welcome to join the activities!
The participating students mention in their feedback that they have found meaningful activities for their free time and the opportunity to try and learn art and craft techniques that they would not have had the chance to do alone. Additionally, they report gaining confidence in being part of a group, and for some students, the workshop also serves as good practice for the Finnish language. The activities are free of charge for students. Luova labra is a low-threshold activity that only requires enthusiasm – the name itself, “lab”, suggests that the idea is to experiment and practice together.
One key objective of the activities is for students to share their skills and interests with other students. We are now looking for new student instructors and new ideas for Creative Lab! A student instructor will receive support for planning the theme, acquiring materials, and, if necessary, for instructing. Perhaps there is a topic you could integrate into your own studies? Our staff also has a lot of creativity, so they are also encouraged to join the activities.
Creative Labs are on Tuesdays from 4 PM to 7 PM.
We will inform you about the content and meeting dates on Wilma, so please follow the communication there!
